McCain Picks Palin as Running Mate

Not Michael Palin from Monty Python…  Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Savage was convinced on Friday that McCain and/or his handlers were trying to throw the election.   One bad move after another.  Her lack of experience was cited as making the “electablity” of this ticket weak.

Others have cited her stands on other issues as a plus.   We will see…

***  Now the 17 year old daughter is unmarried and 5 months pregnant, but is gonna marry the boy.  Drama?

You just know she is gonna be on The View at some point.  The word “vetting” keeps coming up and with any more “unknown” information or oops…  Then we are back to McCain’s judgement.

But, please…that was lost when he wouldn’t make a commitment to even try to return the invaders… even the incarcerated ones…

So, this will end up as some “who is least liberal?” race.

And NONE of the media… (Not even Savage) is giving Nader a fair shake.   Please, this is a race FULL of novices now.

The State of the Union…

The Democrats did a lot of up and down, standing and clapping for Bush,,, that seemed odd…

Then…. there was Darth and Nancy… Nancy Pelosi had her head down quite a lot… reading the commencement flier?…looking like a whipped pup. She stood and clapped right along with the other Dems…

although…her timing to get up and down always had an annoying delay like the “Applause” sign for the audience was broken.

… then there was President Bush. He kept smirking and seemed just way too giddy.

… In recent speeches, especially the angry Bush ones from the Rose Garden, I keep thinking Bush is gonna bust out,,,
…”Live form New York,,,It’s Saturday Night!!!!!”

One dude in the audience… was Mr. Jowls.

I don’t recall any boos this time. Matter of fact I kept hearing what sounded like drunken frat boys going ….”Hey!!!!!……Ho…
…”Hey!!!!!……Ho……… Hip Hip,,Hoorey,,,,Ho….Hey …. Ho…..

… and then as Bush left, he signed like every person theres lil commencement flier…. He gave out more autographs than LaBron James…. and to mostly Democrats… so these are going on Ebay?

No Stimulus for You!… and others wait til May

Sadly, if you made less than $3000 in 2007, you will NOT get a dime under the current Stimulus package. These people are too poor to spend this on necessities?

Unemployment benefits that ran out…will stay run out.

Looks like the current version will give a tax Rebate of taxes paid up to $600 for singles now…..but you wont even get stimulated til May or June.

$50 billion in incentives for businesses to buy new equipment… (No, …..you have to put the equipment in a business still located in the US…yeah)

I keep hoping that I misread something on this….
Now it has to go through the House and Senate… Perhaps, some help for those making less than $3000 or with their unemployment depleted…

Malaysia to Make and Export…”Islamic” Cars

Sometimes news items just leap on the wordpress all by themselves… I guess the other cars of the world just didn’t have enough “bang” for the Buck ….. anymore.

I’m guessing they are using that Pinto design that was ahead of its time.

Looks like they will call this model…the “Proton”.. As names like..
“the Surge”,
“Boom”,
“Bam”,
“Terrorist” and
“Jihad”
were already taken by other car makers…

The features include (and as Dave Barry would say… I swear Im not making this up…)

Proposed by Iran, the collaboration would include installing features in automobiles such as a compass to determine the direction of Mecca for prayers, and compartments for storing the Quran and headscarves.

This whole Iraq war is ugly, but this sickened me even more than usual tonight.

Ahmed al-Janabi, a 45-year-old father of three was shot multiple times in his eyes, and killed for what was on his ID cards. He was a teacher and father of three children. A Sunni.

I expect hellish amounts of public denouncement in outrage from all muslim countries over this, but especially the shiite ones.

DREAM Act… More Tricks to Get Invaders Declared Citizens

Per the news, there is a new effort to get illegal invaders to the USA declared as citizens….again…

Senator Durbin is one of the people supporting SA 2919 that will let those people that are ILLEGAL INVADERS (ie they are NOT US citizens!!!) a path to become a citizen if they are willing to serve in the US military and keep a clean record.

Senator Durbin commented (paraphrase) on the interview that we could either catch the invaders and deport them or just use their skills. I call on Senator Durbin and the rest of our elected officials to do their damn job and seal the border and enforce the laws on the books already, which means we round up illegal invaders and deport them.

Once again, please email, mail and ring the phones of your elected officials off the hook in Washington.

No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service….No Sheet!

I saw this the other day as I entered a grocery store (and it’s 2007 folks.)

Can’t say I ever saw much enforcement of this. I used to see this service policy warning on the front door of most restaurants, stores and groceries back say in the 70’s. (Now…pardon my sidebar remembering classic Lovelines observations by Adam Carolla reflecting on his upbringing in a fairly hippie area of North Hollywood in the late 60’s and 70’s….also getting a mental recall of Fast Times at Ridgemont High where Jeff Spicoli might need the council of such a service policy…but I digress )

But especially in the 70’s some jack off would inevitably walk into a reputable store with no shirt and some cutoffs and an ora of respect that he had at the convenience store earlier when he bought the smokes he was now fumegating everyone with.

Ahh the 70’s….So to the rest of the world..yeah we needed the sign. Common sense …..was NOT adequate…because it had quit being common. It was during the end of and following the Vietnam war and the man wasn’t gonna hold homie down with all his rules man.

So, now it’s 2007 ….and the sign…is back….it’s ALL back…Enjoy!

Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In

A few words here to pay tribs to a show from the early 70’s that was ahead of its time. It was almost as crazy and in your face as the Vietnam war coverage that was just wrapping up.

Goldie Hahn was a smokin hot skimpy bikini clad dancer….Oh yeah…(Say that again..)…And then there was Arte Johnson (Wolfgang the peek around the bushes Nazi…”Verrry Interesting…”) and Flip Wilson.(Geraldine)…and Lilly Tomblin (Her classic…ATT operator One ringydingy, two ringy dingies…routine) in addition to the hosts Dan Rowan and Dick Martin.

Also, Ruth Buzzi (played a skinny old lady with scraggly stockings hitting Arte Johnson with her purse and Jo Anne Worley (big feather boa as I recall and opera voice) Congrats to Jo Anne on her new show in New York on Braodway, “The Drowsy Chaparon”

It was a crazy, different kinda variety show in a crazy time in US history. It was the venting after Trcky Dick (Im notta crook) Nixon and the Vietnam war.

Yes, Saddam was executed for his deeds and is gone as we know.

However, as I watch (/endure) more of the mindless dribble called television ( think…American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, The Bachelor, America’s Got Talent, American Inventor, Thank God You’re Here, Super Nanny, Wife Swap, Extreme Makeover, and any other 3 judge reality show with one dolt brit thrown in…Please make it stop!!!!) It occurred to me (on a lighter note, yet with more talent) that an opportunity was lost that could have livened up the television offerrings considerably.

I’m envisioning a Tom Snyder style…smokin a few butts and..(maybe a lil NatX (Chris Rock) on SNL) …Saddam offering a forum for other world leaders to come on…and gripe about Bush and such (maybe some commentary on the 2008 election hopefuls). Now there’s your Web 2.0. World leaders evaluating the candidates.

Maybe the ocassional surprise guest, like Rosie O’Donnell, Andy Dick or Bill Clinton to liven things up, when there was a lul.

This feels like a show that Jimmy Kimmel and crew could produce.

And of course with Saddam apologizing at the end each night….apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time….

This is just a fictional show…that could have been…unless we have the “Weekend At Bernies” version…..Uh no…

Evidently part of the agenda was the…two month vacation they had planned. It’s genius. What everyone needs is just a two month vacation. or not.

We hear about car bombers there almost every single day on the news.

Since I have recently spent a lot of time keeping my older car running, It occured to me… Ok, I’m starting to think like George Carlin…But…. 4 *365 =1460

Where are they getting all of these expendable cars?

It would be interesting to know what makes and models are more popular.

Are they all crappy Pintos from the 70’s? or perhaps A few Ford Fiestas? or Dodge Dart or Chevy Geos or the dreaded Plymouth Neon? (Pinto…kind of ahead of its time…huh)

And…, I don’t think crazy Khaleid is gonna take his dad’s imported Lexus down to the Death to Amrica rally.

And not only expendable cars…but expendable nutty relatives to drive them?

Darwin would predict that we would run out of both?

A few words to note one of my fav talkshows.

Charlie has surpassed Ted Koppel in interviewing some very cool guests from CEO’s to politicians to scientists to actors to…you name it.

His show is a wierd but cool mix of Ted Koppel era Nightline and the Tom Snyder talk show from some years back.
