It’s been six very long months and FINALLY, I have video playing (with sound).
The jpg photos and .mp3 sound are relatively easy to get going.
But video… (described as .AVI) is a ROYAL PAIN. I’m guessing most have given up.

I called Pandigital and they told me to google Motion JPEG 3.2.4
That leads you to an MJPEG codec from Mainconcepts that I couldnt get to work. The .avi is considered a “wrapper” for the MJPEG by the way.
Then I came across this posting:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t1391643-pandigital_7_photo_frame_play_video
bjamieson083 helped a lot by identifying what works evidently for a 7″ frame that Pandigital also sells.
Download the free converter program “MJPEG StreamClip Ver 1.2 and
also either regular QuickTime or there is a alternate Quicktime program Ver 1.8.1 (but NOT both). I used the regular Quicktime Ver 7.6.2
Inside MJPEG Streamclip, you Open File and then “Export AVI”
For his 7″ frame, he recommended using the Apple MJPEG A compression.
That does NOT work for the PAN602-W frame.
*** The Apple MJPEG A does work IF you use “uncompressed” for the audio.
The Apple MJPEG B compression does work with 4:3 ratio.
The next issue that would yield “Not Supported” is the audio choice.
MP3 does NOT work. MP2 doesnt work, but at least the MJPEG B video would work.
To get video AND sound on the PAN602-W 6″ LCD Photo Frame:
I started with .mpg (one) and mp2 audio from my Sony T1 camera that does video too.
Export as AVI from MJPEG Streamclip Ver 1.2
Video compression = Apple MJPEG B or Apple MJPEG A
4:3 ratio works
Set to Video Deinterlaced
Sound = Uncompressed
I am leaving the quality set at 50% (the default) for now, although I got 80% to work. I didnt notice a huge improvement and the file size goes up quite a bit.
I had originally tried MP3 for the sound and that yields the whole file “Not Supported”
At some point, I will try to go back to the MJPEG 3.2.4 and retry it with Uncompressed audio. More to come as it happens
