Could McCain shoot himself in the foot any better? He has complimented “his opponent” like at least 5 times now. Savage said a few days back that he had shot off all his toes and was standing on one hand now.
He won’t even try to deal with the 20 million invaders to the US.
He also voted (just like “his opponent”) to bail out the poor investments of others.. at tax payer expense.
He has Carly Fiorina on board… failed CEO..Buehler? anyone?

I recently submitted a dream guest list to Spike Feresten which contained numerous celebrities that had… yet to appear… on the show.
One of which (and no doubt the hardest to book, scheduling, etc) was legendary talkshow host (and Spike’s former boss) David Letterman.
I was encouraged however in that my past years repeated lobbying of Spike to have on Adam Carolla, perhaps yielded some fruit….as the Aceman will indeed be on in March 2008 (show already taped) as he promotes the wide release of “The Hammer” movie.
So…… Spike always the smarty…. politely replies to my submission with… “I’ll have Dave on. Call him and set it up.”
seeing how I, as a regular person and not in the biz, would have like a 0.000001% chance of pulling this off, much less get a call through to Dave.
Dave has been on with Oprah (finally) and Conan and with Johnny Carson…and with Spike?
So…. stay tuned… I say Dave will be up for great fun in freaking out Spike…

The Democrats did a lot of up and down, standing and clapping for Bush,,, that seemed odd…
Then…. there was Darth and Nancy… Nancy Pelosi had her head down quite a lot… reading the commencement flier?…looking like a whipped pup. She stood and clapped right along with the other Dems…
although…her timing to get up and down always had an annoying delay like the “Applause” sign for the audience was broken.
… then there was President Bush. He kept smirking and seemed just way too giddy.
… In recent speeches, especially the angry Bush ones from the Rose Garden, I keep thinking Bush is gonna bust out,,,

HDTV or even SDTV (standard definition..ie less dots to make up a image on the screen).
I don’t have either. Why do I continue to watch a perfectly nice old 13″ analog set? I used to have cable btw…and frankly I watched a lot of Comedy Central and the Weather Channel with the occasional Dennis Miller HBO show or movie thrown in.
And I concluded after a year that it wasn’t worth the extra money…which quickly adds up…to have that tiny bit of additional content to vegetate in front of.
So, to me the want (notice I didn’t say need) of HD or even SD television is related to the content you plan to view.
It’s all about content which is subpar at this time.
–Movies would be cool although I can count on a few hands the movies that I’d really have to have HD to enjoy any more than on a regular set.
–Sports, especially football and NASCAR and Indy racing would be good examples for HD.
–Animal, nature, science and world travel type programming would be cool in HD
-But In reality, I mostly watch parts of:
Late Night Talk Shows (Letterman, Leno, OBrien, Ferguson, Feresten
Local news
Nightline
Charlie Rose
Saturday Night Live
PBS stuff…This Old House, etc
So… for an additional $700 plus, I can see every zit and blimish on David Letterman or Infomercial bonehead Kevin Trudeau? Umm no.
But, but what about the fact that our stupid greedy government has decided to screw us yet again and sell lots of the broadcast spectrum which forces television stations to stop sending my perfectly fine old analog signal in February 2009?
What will a person like me do? There will be a converter box that will take the digital version of the same signal and convert it back to the analog and most likely I will watch that 13″ analog TV til it caputs. After that, perhaps the various technolgies of LCD, plasma, OLED and DLP projection will have had the survival of the fittest and true dark black and screen life and other issues will be closer to sorting themselves out.
Then there’s regular DVD and VCR for SDTV and can still be watched on HD..btw.
And then the current two flavors of HD DVD…ie BluRay and HD-DVD. As of this posting it looks like BluRay has a lead on movie studios and content providers that (once again plan more content) for BluRay
Leo Laporte noted that cable channels now have some channels in HD, but….may not look as impressive as expected due to video compression. Leo’s podcasts, especially “The Tech Guy” is a good resource for thoughts on HD and more.

Letterman, that was able to negotiate a deal with the Writers Guild union, quipped…something like….”Well it’s been two monthes and Im glad to be out of rehab”
The Foster Brooks-esque beard was in keeping with Conan O’brien…also sporting winter regalia.
Letterman later quipped…”I look like a lost hiker” haha
Robin Williams was on with Letterman and related his USO experiences in performing for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan,,,and several one night stands…..
Jimmy Kimmel, Conan and Leno were all on..sans writers.
Leno had Huckabee. Kimmel had Andy Dick
Kimmel had a deal where they played some old clips so the writers would get some residuals.
There was quite a bit from all shows as far as kissing butt to the writers. That got old pretty quick. But better than pure reruns anyway.
On Thursday night, Craig Ferguson matched wits with Huckabee. The Huck continuing to jump picket lines…interesting…
Ferguson quipped with Huckabee..something about Caucausing was something done behind closed doors…
It was a pretty good interview actually.

New Late Night with Conan O’brien as well as, Late Show with David Letterman starting January, 2, 2008 albeit sans writers except the hosts themselves. Carson Daly has already returned to production.
When I messaged Spike Feresten… He gave a very George Bush reply… something like… I havent ruled it out (going back in Jan) So they may return with TalkShow
…or just bomb Iran…
We’ll stay with that story as it develops.
Btw, I’m not against what the writers are concerned about, but it will be nice to see fresh stuff on TV. The thought of the onslaught of “reality” shows and games shows is depressing….

First off…Dave’s opening question…Something like….What kinda jobs did you have during the summers growing up?
I was like what? Dave are you high? Did I just hear that? And then Hilary’s reply about pulling a wagon with playground equipment since she didnt drive at thirteen…. Then… Am I high? …Umm No.
The rest of the interview and her additional Top Ten were a lil less surreal. But that whole first 4 minutes seemed wierd.
No doubt there was a pre-agreed format/content and flow to this stiff interview.
Senator Larry Craig of Idaho has gotten a more than generous coverage in the media this week….as Paris Hilton, Nicole Richey and Lindsay Lowhan breathe a collective sigh of relief.
Did I miss it? What did he actually do that was illegal? He pled guilty to a disorderly conduct charge? Allegedly he had solicited sex in an airport men’s room in Minneapolis? The “solicitation” amounted to patting his foot and putting his hand just over the sacred stall divider demarcation line on the floor? And this was supposed to be some kind of gay gang sign of wink wink nudge nudge,,,,know what I mean…say no more? that the officer in the next stall received and said…Oh no you didnt…Come with me!
So, suddenly I’m assessing a bad Monty Python sketch from the 1970’s?

And in the next article, the officer has arrested about a dozen men for making this undescribed (tape said his hand was palm up, k) “hand gesture” since joining the airport police force in 2000. Really? Aren’t there bigger fish to fry after 911? Aren’t there sinister looking people or items left unattended or people parked in a fire lane for the airport police to be checking on? Just a few words to honor Tom Snyder.
He made many of us laugh in the late hours after the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and then more recently after The Late Show with David Letterman. He was always laughing and smoking a few butts as he interviewed celebrities or carried on with the off stage crew.
