Malaysia to Make and Export…”Islamic” Cars

November 12, 2007

Sometimes news items just leap on the wordpress all by themselves… I guess the other cars of the world just didn’t have enough “bang” for the Buck ….. anymore.

I’m guessing they are using that Pinto design that was ahead of its time.

Looks like they will call this model…the “Proton”.. As names like..
“the Surge”
,
“Boom”,
“Bam”,
“Terrorist” and
“Jihad”
were already taken by other car makers…

The features include (and as Dave Barry would say… I swear Im not making this up…)

Proposed by Iran, the collaboration would include installing features in automobiles such as a compass to determine the direction of Mecca for prayers, and compartments for storing the Quran and headscarves.

Sixth Anniversary of 9/11

September 5, 2007

Just heard Dennis Miller on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

It reminded me that regardless of how you feel about George Bush and Dick Cheney, we are about to pass six years free of any major terrorism like we experienced on that horrible September day.

I, like many, have moaned and groaned at many gaffs like the Amnesty attempt for the mexican invaders, etc, but I stop at this point to say…

Thank you Mr. President, your staff, the men and women of the armed forces and even more importantly to the local law enforcement and emergency workers that have collectively kept this nation out of harm’s way during the past six years.

Dennis Miller commented something along the line of …appreciating Bush’s effort and willingness to fore go popularity now for the greater good of us.  He felt that Bush will be seen far better in the prism of history.

Minneapolis I-35W Bridge collapses…Another Surreal Day

August 2, 2007

I-35W Bridge collapses at Minneapolis over the Missisippi.  Another surreal day and prayers go out to the people there, especially the families and emergency workers directly affected.  We are being assured by the media that this was not terrorism, but that they simply don’t know what went wrong yet.  There was evidently concrete surface repair underway, but that is not being suspected really either at this moment.  More to come I’m sure on 8/2/2007 day as the investigation continues.

It seems far too often these days, especially since 9/11, that we tune in the television to a surreal breaking news broadcast.  What a horrible way to end the day today. Again, prayers go out to the people in Minneapolis St. Paul.
