It started today 02/26/2010 with a pop-up asking me to let others find me easier by email and that option was PRE-CHECKED.
I UNCHECKED it and clicked “Ask me later” (The other choice was “Good to go” which I WAS NOT.
Fearing they would violate my privacy anyway, I immediately clicked on settings… and guess what…. “Allow others to find you by email” was STILL CHECKED.
I then UNCHECKED it AGAIN and after having to provide my password YET AGAIN, I finally unchecked it.

The first trouble I had (and still am having) with TWITTER, was that on my FIRST account…is that one day I started having a situation where my password stopped working for no apparent reason. I had no choice but to ask for it RESET and fine… it was fixed.
Then a week or so later, it would happen again and I’d have to reset it AGAIN.
Eventually that process NO LONGER WORKED.
I tracked down TWITTER employees. The first wasn’t able to fix it, but said it was an UNKNOWN password problem that the engineers were checkning into.
She did at least verify that the work ticket I had submitted was in.
I evantually heard back from another employee that still deferred to TWITTER engineers checking on the password issue.
Eventually, that second employee fessed up that my LEGACY account that had TWITTER in the user name was the actual cause of the mystery password failures and now a freezing of my account.
The second employee said that since I had the word TWITTER in my username that I would no longer be able to use the account with that USER NAME and that he could assist me in renaming my LEGACY account.
I said….not right now….ty
It’s still frozen.
