Just a few words to give propers to several very funny British comedies that at one time or another have been shown in the US on PBS.
Monty Python ‘s Flying Circus – Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?…Say no more…Eric Idol, Micheal Paylin, John Cleese, …
Waiting for God – Tom, Diana, Bassil (Horny Old Guy), Harvey (Idiot) Banes the retirement home director, Jane (his fawning secretary), Tom’s son and his alcoholic wife. – Very sharp, edgy comedy. A must see if you find it on.
The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin – It’s been a while since I’ve seen this one. Running bits include Reginald always seeing the image of a large hippo when his mother-in-law is mentioned. Lots of subtle and dry Brit humor. Pretty funny as I recall.
Are You Being Served? Cast includes Mr. Humphreys (flaming salesman), Mrs. Schlocam (and her pussy…cat),
Keeping Up Appearances – Mrs Bucket (Bouquet) – “The lady of the house”
more on this as I recall it…
