Talkshow with Spike Feresten – No Fourth Season

Don’t know about you all… but I’ve had all the hope and change I need…

Did BO buy FOX now?

All humor aside… I sadly note that Talkshow with Spike Feresten will not be renewed for a fourth season.

The recent bonehead FOX suit decisions started with dumping MadTV.

And the most recent includes dumping Spike’s show.

Spike has truly cut a lot of new ground and the suits want the daily mush with no edge.

Let’s see… Wasn’t “In Living Color” on FOX ?  It rocked til the suits took control and poof.. gone.

Per Wikipedia  “Keenen Ivory Wayans left the show in 1992 after the end of the third season, over disputes with Fox about the network censoring the show’s content and rerunning early episodes without his consultation.”

More on this after I get over the shock of one of my fav programs going away.

The Stink in Farts Controls Bloodpressure…

Hydrogen Sulfide…  I always thought I gave off methane… haha.   This evidently is given off by cells in your blood vessels… which helps relax them and lowers blood pressure…  interesting…to see where this leads…

Project Dave (On hold) … TalkShow with Spike Feresten

I recently submitted a dream guest list to Spike Feresten which contained numerous celebrities that had… yet to appear… on the show.

One of which (and no doubt the hardest to book, scheduling, etc) was legendary talkshow host (and Spike’s former boss) David Letterman.

I was encouraged however in that my past years repeated lobbying of Spike to have on Adam Carolla, perhaps yielded some fruit….as the Aceman will indeed be on in March 2008 (show already taped) as he promotes the wide release of “The Hammer” movie.

So…… Spike always the smarty…. politely replies to my submission with… “I’ll have Dave on. Call him and set it up.”

seeing how I, as a regular person and not in the biz, would have like a 0.000001% chance of pulling this off, much less get a call through to Dave.

Dave has been on with Oprah (finally) and Conan and with Johnny Carson…and with Spike?

So…. stay tuned… I say Dave will be up for great fun in freaking out Spike…

Adam Carolla on Jimmy Kimmel Live

The Aceman, still making the rounds promoting the new movie. *** (( See newest posting concerning TalkShow with Spike Feresten for March….))

Quips included how he was driving in a vintage Stanley Steamer (steam powered car) with Jay Leno (Hey, there’s Jay…and..Oh and,,Greg Brady…)……and how he’s guessing Jay’s love of this dated and potentially dangerous technology….fire,,,a high pressure boiler.. and catgut brake lines…will lead to the demise of Jay….and confuse a kid someday trying to write a book report….and explain how Jay’s steam powered car was hit by a Hover craft.

Another included a clip of Adam’s twin son Sonny being brought to tears when he has to watch a cartoon starring a African American handicapped guy…and Adam yelling at the camera to his wife….he didn’t get that from my side of the family!!

Later Adam and Jimmy runway model their walking styles for Janet Dickinson as they plug her reality show about modeling.

According to Theory…Spike Will Be Back Jan 12

Per the Myspace for the show, TalkShow with Spike Feresten will be back January 12, 2008 just as other Late night talk shows have done.

Im noting that this was from a corporate dude, just like the announcement about Spike on the New Years gig…. and NOT from Spike.

Im sure the politics and stress of the business side of the entertainment business and coming back without writers is not fun. Should be interesting…

Show was man on the street stuff with Spike and promoting two FOX shows coming soon. (Game show..Moment of Truth which they demoed with a member of the audience. That was probably the funniest part of the show. The other was a new Terminator follow-up) Spike made the comment that they were reluctantly returning…and the announcement on the Myspace was from a corporate dude and not Spike. Im sure this whole thing is just awkward and ugly and opposite of the creative and fun that Spike would rather focus on. Uggh

Some New TV Shows Despite the Writer’s Strike…

New Late Night with Conan O’brien as well as, Late Show with David Letterman starting January, 2, 2008 albeit sans writers except the hosts themselves. Carson Daly has already returned to production.

When I messaged Spike Feresten… He gave a very George Bush reply… something like… I havent ruled it out (going back in Jan)   So they may return with TalkShow
…or just bomb Iran…

We’ll stay with that story as it develops.

Btw, I’m not against what the writers are concerned about, but it will be nice to see fresh stuff on TV. The thought of the onslaught of “reality” shows and games shows is depressing….

In a related story…just saw a promo for American Gladiators…yeah thats some wore out crap from the 70’s or 80’s haha

Malaysia to Make and Export…”Islamic” Cars

Sometimes news items just leap on the wordpress all by themselves… I guess the other cars of the world just didn’t have enough “bang” for the Buck ….. anymore.

I’m guessing they are using that Pinto design that was ahead of its time.

Looks like they will call this model…the “Proton”.. As names like..
“the Surge”,

were already taken by other car makers…

This guy is nuts haha… I remember him on “Real People” a tv show from the 70’s? I think. Then on various talk shows then and now (recently with Conan and Spike Feresten)

A classic and extremely funny movie from back in the day.. “Moving Violations” A must rent!

Demographic of the Patrons In One Business

Know your audience…Marketing101 meets Main St.

This one may vary depending on your location but this is the audience I saw in a particular business establishment.

- The elderly (various ethnicities)

- Latino immigrants (Central America and Mexico mostly)

- Wandering unsupervised teens and pre-teens (various ethnicities)

- Meth People (digital cameras always need litium batteries and oddly enough security cameras.

- People that want to return things without receipt and certainly without packaging and after 30 days. Uh no!

- Criminals – they actually just came in to steal (various ethnicities)

- Thuglike people that just look like they came to steal (various ethnicities)

- People that are off their meds, bipolar and other various mental health issues.

- Occassionally the homeless and vagrants

- Repeat customers (various ages and ethnicities) with money that are ready to buy

- People passing through that are from like Florida or Arizona and truck drivers that stopped at Walmart

It would be interesting to see this real world info in a company’s business plan. Instead, you always see the idealistic stuff of upper middle class and 18 to 35…kinda stuff.

In this case, the elderly, the latino, the travelers/truck drivers and repeat customers with money in hand kept this business thriving. Speaking some amount of spanish was very helpful.

As far as weird stuff:
One guy came in with a tattoo…on the side of his neck…that read (and I can’t make stuff up this good)…
“100% Honky”

…I rest my case.

Opening scene, our quartet friends in colorful customary regalia, each parked on his own throne (think bathroom displays at a Home Depot/Lowes) side by side….
Camera pans toward the floor as foot tapping becomes obvious…

…camera pans up as they start a happy tune.

…camera pans far right and down as we notice another shoe tapping away…

Hey, officer Bob from the airport police coming by to sing along…

Then a voice off camera… can I get you all some ice tea and cookies?
…Hi, Chris Hanson from Dateline….

Then the festivities are interupted by lots of loud whistles and lots of police and they drag away the Dapper Daniels…..awwwwww

-Spike inspecting people’s junk at the beach…pretty funny.

-Ryan Seacrest…a timely guest, but not a fan
-Old dudes getting freaky with the Koolaid man..just plain creepy
-Goth baby kicks butt on emo baby in Comedy for Stoners , It was no Lincoln or LarryKing..but those will be tough to beat

Ok, One More Time…What Happened That Was Illegal?

Senator Larry Craig of Idaho has gotten a more than generous coverage in the media this week….as Paris Hilton, Nicole Richey and Lindsay Lowhan breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Did I miss it? What did he actually do that was illegal? He pled guilty to a disorderly conduct charge? Allegedly he had solicited sex in an airport men’s room in Minneapolis? The “solicitation” amounted to patting his foot and putting his hand just over the sacred stall divider demarcation line on the floor? And this was supposed to be some kind of gay gang sign of wink wink nudge nudge,,,,know what I mean…say no more? that the officer in the next stall received and said…Oh no you didnt…Come with me!

So, suddenly I’m assessing a bad Monty Python sketch from the 1970’s?

In the cnn.com article, reporter Dan Popkey was quoted as saying about the event…., “We have no hard evidence.”

That was one of several double entendre phrases that made me giggle this week. I think we are all glad about not having hard evidence…great….another Youtube video.

And in the next article, the officer has arrested about a dozen men for making this undescribed (tape said his hand was palm up, k) “hand gesture” since joining the airport police force in 2000. Really? Aren’t there bigger fish to fry after 911? Aren’t there sinister looking people or items left unattended or people parked in a fire lane for the airport police to be checking on? No, this dude is hanging out in the men’s room watching for undescribed illegal hand gestures?

And let me get this straight, if Senator Craig were to actually confess to being gay now, then we’d be tripping over ourselves to give equality to his life style, not to offend him and his guilt would be in not keeping his lifestyle at home?

And is the Minneapolis airport men’s restroom some famous place for a hook up? Aren’t there like 10 or 20 mens rooms in a major airport? How would you even know which one? Look for guys patting their feet as you pass stalls? So now, when I’m trying to take a much needed dump and I hear what sounds like a foot tapping or worse yet some hand crossing the demarcation line….Dude, I’m just trying to take a crap…Please.

By the way, what a great few months to work at the Minneapolis tourism bureau. “Come for our bridges…and stay for the restrooms….”

I can’t wait for the George Carlin and David Letterman comedy bits on this one.
